Medical Plastics

Plastic and reconstructive surgery encompasses a wide range of procedures designed to restore function, improve comfort, and reconstruct areas of the body affected by injury, disease, congenital conditions, or significant weight loss (diet, GLP-1, surgery, etc). Medical plastic surgery focuses on addressing health concerns and improving quality of life. While our team also performs cosmetic procedures, our position within TriHealth gives us a unique ability to provide and perform these medical procedures and help patients navigate insurance coverage.

Our team works closely with patients and insurance providers to determine eligibility for coverage and develop personalized treatment plans that help restore both form and function. Often, insurance-covered procedures can be combined with cosmetic procedures to treat multiple areas. Our providers have comprehensive experience in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.

Medical Plastics Procedures

  • Breast Reduction – Breast reduction surgery removes excess breast tissue and skin to decrease breast size and alleviate symptoms such as neck, shoulder, and back pain as well as recurrent rashes. The procedure can also improve posture, physical activity, and overall quality of life.
  • Panniculectomy/Abdominoplasty – A panniculectomy removes excess skin and tissue from the abdomen, often following significant weight loss or pregnancy. This procedure can help relieve chronic rashes, skin irritation, hygiene concerns, and limitations in daily activities.
  • Arm Lift/Thigh/Body Lift – Arm, thigh, and body lifts remove excess skin from the affected areas.
  • Oncoplastic Breast Surgery – Oncoplastic breast surgery combines breast cancer treatment with reconstructive techniques to preserve or restore the breast's appearance after a lumpectomy. The goal is to remove cancer effectively while maintaining breast shape and symmetry.
  • Breast Reconstruction – Breast reconstruction restores the shape and appearance of the breast following mastectomy, lumpectomy, or trauma. Reconstruction may be performed using implants or the patient's own tissue and can help patients feel more confident and whole after cancer treatment.
  • Abdominal Wall Reconstruction – Abdominal wall reconstruction repairs weakened or damaged abdominal muscles and tissues, often due to hernias, prior surgeries, trauma, or infection. The procedure restores strength, support, and function to the abdominal wall.
  • Treatment of Chronic Wounds – Plastic surgeons use advanced wound care techniques, including skin grafts and flap reconstruction, to treat wounds that have failed to heal properly. Treatment focuses on promoting healing, preventing complications, and restoring function.
  • Treatment of Skin Cancer – Plastic surgeons specialize in the removal and reconstruction of skin cancers, particularly in areas where both function and appearance are important. Treatment aims to completely remove the cancer while achieving the best possible cosmetic and functional outcome.
  • Chest Surgery/Top Surgery – In patients with gender dysphoria, plastic surgeons can masculinize or feminize a chest to make the patient's external appearance congruent with their gender.
