What to Expect in Treatment

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): What to Expect in Treatment

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for individuals who need structured, therapeutic support while continuing to live at home and remain engaged in work, school, or family life. Treatment is individualized, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. These practices include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)to shift thought patterns and strengthen coping skills.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)to clarify goals and deepen personal commitment to change.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to improve distress-tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)when appropriate, to support physical and emotional stability.
  • Group Support and Relapse Prevention to build community and stay grounded in recovery.
  • In addition to our empirically supported psychotherapy interventions, our patients will engage in a variety of creative and holistic modalities meant to foster resilience, self-expression, and emotional processing and regulation. These Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) approaches include art therapy, creative writing and journaling, mindfulness and meditation, and - a hands-on group drumming experience used to reduce stress, foster positive mood, and enhance group connectivity.
  • Family engagement is encouraged throughout the treatment process.
