At McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, we offer both inpatient and outpatient surgical services.
Inpatient surgery
Area surgeons perform a wide range of procedures in our four-room surgical suite. In addition, the surgical staff is ready to respond whenever emergency surgery is required.
Outpatient and same-day surgery
Many minor surgical procedures our patients require are handled on an outpatient basis for their convenience.
Same-day surgery (SDS) refers to any surgical procedure for which a patient is admitted, has surgery and is dismissed within the same day. Preadmission testing is usually conducted ahead of time and includes such things as lab tests or x-rays requested by the attending physician. The patient discusses pending surgical procedures with the preadmission testing nurse and anesthesiologist.
Common SDS procedures include:
- Laparascopic procedures such as gallbladder, hernia repair and appendectomy.
- Colonoscopy.
- Orthopedic surgery.
- Urological surgery.
- Gynecological surgery.
- Carpal tunnel surgery.
- Ear surgery.
- Breast biopsies.
- Podiatric surgeries.
- Minor plastic surgeries.
- Other types of minor surgeries.
In the postoperative recovery unit, patients are closely monitored and assisted.
