Our team offers complete prenatal, delivery and postpartum care for high-risk pregnancies, whether it's due to an underlying or preexisting maternal health condition or fetal complication, such as anomaly or birth defect. We also coordinate your pregnancy care with your obstetrician or certified midwife (CNM).
You will see all the physicians in the group during the course of your pregnancy. This serves three purposes:
We provide 24-hour coverage, which is rotated between the physicians; therefore, you will be delivered by the physician on-call for our group, not necessarily your primary physician.
When you are admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital, we will be your attending physicians for the duration of your stay. Since Good Samaritan is a major teaching hospital, and we are affiliated with the residency program, you will also be seen by one or more of our OB/GYN residents. Our residents are qualified physicians in their final years of training in obstetrics and gynecology.
Their visits with you will always be under our direction and supervision. These knowledgeable professionals are an integral part of our healthcare team. Our OB/GYN residents are on-call 24 hours a day and are available to respond to any OB/GYN emergency that may arise. Thus, it is in the best interest of you and your baby that they be familiar with your daily condition should they need to respond to an emergency involving you or your baby, pending our arrival. Due to the high risk nature of your pregnancy, birth plans will not be accepted.
We provide preconception counseling to couples who are at risk for pregnancy complications based on prior obstetrical history, maternal medical disorder, advanced age, or increased risk of prematurity. A thorough history is obtained by the maternal fetal medicine specialist and a proposed pregnancy management scheme is developed to apply to future pregnancies whether cared for by our group or another obstetrician.
