Family Medicine Residency

The Bethesda Family Medicine Residency Program began in 1987 and has produced more than 150 graduates who live all over the nation. Clinical work is performed throughout Cincinnati, but the majority of training is done at Bethesda North Hospital and at the Bethesda Family Practice office. Other training facilities include Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital and numerous physician offices across Cincinnati. We are primarily an unopposed program, but we train alongside surgery and OB residents for guidance and collaborative teaching.

In addition, we are the number one publishing community-based family medicine program in the nation. We have produced 77 publications, 54 published residents, and 25 research awards. In July 2005 we instituted a fully accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. The fellows work primarily with several well-known orthopedic surgeons in Cincinnati and have the opportunity to work with area high schools, Xavier University, the Cincinnati Cyclones, and the Cincinnati Reds.

Our program consists of six residents in each year and two sports medicine fellows. Six physicians make up our faculty, with personal interest consisting of women’s health, internal medicine, pediatrics, practice management, research, and sports medicine. Our program also consists of a seventh faculty member specializing in psychology and behavioral medicine. Our residents receive the chance to teach medical students from the University of Cincinnati and regional medical schools to truly cultivate their clinical knowledge.  Please explore our web page and get in touch if you have any questions.
